As visitors to Irish gardens go…this bird ranks highly I think!
This apparently is a ‘Turaco‘, known in some African countries as a ‘go away bird’. This particular guy has actually been a resident of our neighbourhood for at least ten years or so. It obviously escaped from a private collection and has taken up residence here permanently. It regularly visits our garden much to out dogs’ dislike. We are used to seeing and hearing Pheasants, Crows, Herons and Buzzards. But occasionally the silence of our local countryside is pierced by its alarm call.
