Perfectly ruined shot…

This is Dunamase Castle, near Portlaoise in Ireland.

A medieval ruin perched high on ‘The rock of Dunamase’. It tells a tremendous amount of Irish history right from the first attack on the fortress by the Vikings in the year AD 844.

It was late yesterday when I took on the climb to the summit. The views are amazing and I took a few shots that I will share with you over the next few days.

The sky seemed to disappear in this shot. It’s one of those Irish ruins that allows your imagination run wild as you walk through the old stairways and windows that offered views that go on for miles!

It got quite spooky at sundown…great stuff!

  1. Fantastic picture. Again, I’m envious. May be able to squeeze one more Ireland trip in sometime in the future. Missed so much when we were there for 2 weeks. Would love see so many historic places. I hope Shawn, of the previous comment, leaves about a year to do all that ruin sighting. Love your work Steve, keep it coming.
